In September 2024, Metro began a major capital project replacing the three entrance escalators and one platform escalator at the east entrance of Navy Yard-Ballpark Station (NW corner of M St. at New Jersey Ave. SE). The project will replace the four escalators with brand-new ones that are more durable and reliable. The escalators are being installed as part of an ongoing effort to replace 139 escalators across the Metrorail system by 2028.
