West Hyattsville Station Escalator Modernization

On August 17, 2025, Metro began modernizing the escalator at the West Hyattsville Station. The work will take approximately two months to complete, and that escalator will be out of service during that time. The UP escalator and the elevator will be in service.

This project will improve escalator reliability by replacing and upgrading all major components, controls, motors, and safety devices. This rehabilitation is part of Metro’s regular escalator maintenance program.

Customer Impacts

• The station elevator will be open or the duration of the rehabilitation work.
