Better Bus: Bus Garage Modernization Program

Better Bus: Bus Garage Modernization Program

Metro operates nine bus garage divisions which are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of our more than 1,600 bus fleet. Our bus garages also serve as an operational hub for Metrobus operators and other administrative staff.

As part of our commitment to providing customers with sustainable service and creating thoughtful works spaces for our employees, we are modernizing and rebuilding our existing bus garages into state-of-the-art facilities as part of our Bus Garage Modernization Program.

Some of the new features of our upgraded garages include:

  • Infrastructure to support the operation of a zero-emission bus fleet - read our Zero-Emission Transition Plan to learn more about our transition to zero-emission operations by 2042
  • Improved employee amenities including recreation rooms and wellness centers
  • Sustainable features such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, etc.
  • LEED® certification, the most widely used green building rating system

Our Bus Garage Modernization Program is just one of the ways we are ensuring the region's infrastructure remains in a state of good repair. Learn about our other facility modernization projects here.
