2026 Cherry Blossom Season
March 20-April 12: Metro is running safe, frequent, and reliable service and has paused all major track work during the festival.
Metro will also participate in several events. You should also look out for our special wrapped vehicles and limited-edition Smart Trip cards.

Crystal City Entrance Construction
From February - June 2026, Crystal City station will be closed across 10 different weekends, with closures extending to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport station for three of those weekends.
These closures are due to a second entrance being built at Crystal City station, which will have an impact on the Blue and Yellow lines.

A New Way to Pay
You can now pay for Metrorail and Metrobus by tapping your contactless credit or debit card at the faregate or farebox.
SmarTrip cards will still be accepted.
Metrobus Service Changes
December 14: Changes to 50 Metrobus routes were implemented, as we continue to improve reliability, reduce crowding, strengthen connections, and respond to customer and operator feedback since the June network launch.
Also, a new route, A29, was added for customers seeking to travel from Alexandria to downtown Washington, D.C.
