Platform Improvement Project

Metro’s Platform Improvement Project is a three-year initiative to repair and reconstruct platforms at 20 outdoor Metrorail stations. The platform work, which also includes customer experience improvements, will enhance safety, accessibility, communication and convenience.

The first six stations were completed in Summer 2019 and residual construction activities will continue into the fall. Planning is underway for future work and more details such as service information will be published later this year.

7,200 feet of platform edge rebuilt equal to 20 football fields. Over 2 million shuttle bus trips enough to fill Nationals Park 50 times.
