How you can help

As a Metro partner, please help us keep your community informed about the start of Silver Line Extension service by sharing news through your organization's social media and/or newsletter distributions. We have provided suggested content, images, and videos to make it easy for you to spread the word. This toolkit is also provided in Spanish and Korean below and will be refreshed with new content. Overview

Welcome aboard! On November 15, the Silver Line Extension opened to the public, bringing the Metrorail system into Loudoun County, Virginia.  The Extension includes 11.4 miles of new track and six new Metrorail stations Reston Town Center, Herndon, Innovation Center, Washington Dulles International Airport, Loudoun Gateway, and Ashburn.

Metro also opened a new, 90-acre rail yard with storage capacity for 168 railcars and maintenance facilities to service, inspect and clean the trains. The Maintenance of Way, Transportation, and Service & Inspection buildings have all been awarded LEED Silver certification as part of Metro's sustainability commitment.
