Yellow Line service extends to Greenbelt beginning May 25
Metro will begin running all Yellow Line trains to Greenbelt more than a month earlier than expected. The service adjustment, originally scheduled to take effect in July, will allow Metro to provide more reliable service between the airport station, downtown DC and points north during the Platform Improvement Project's station closures.

Construction crews build replica station platform to prepare for this summer's work
Leading up to this summer's Platform Improvement Project, Metro's contractor is now full steam ahead preparing the work sites and training their teams. Recently, the project team constructed a station platform "mock up" to help train and educate the workers who will be completely reconstructing several station platforms this summer.

Metro extends platform project by 6 days to permanently fix structural issue at Braddock Road
Following extensive inspections and engineering analysis, Metro and its contractor have identified additional structural modifications necessary to address a longstanding design issue at Braddock Road Station. The repairs are needed to ensure a safe platform surface that is level with train doors, a requirement of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Metro to relocate Kiss & Ride lots, bus stops ahead of summer Platform Improvement Project
In preparation for this summer's Platform Improvement Project at six stations on the Blue and Yellow lines, Metro's contractor, Kiewit, will soon begin constructing temporary bus loops at Huntington, Van Dorn Street, Braddock Road and Eisenhower Avenue stations. The temporary bus loops will accommodate free customer shuttles during construction and will be located in the stations' Kiss & Ride lots.

Metro announces travel options, customer website for Blue/Yellow line customers affected by summer platform reconstruction work
In collaboration with regional officials and transportation agencies, Metro today released travel alternatives and a detailed project website - wmata.com/platforms - to help customers begin planning for this summer's closure of the six Blue and Yellow line stations south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport for full platform reconstruction and major station improvements. To expedite construction and minimize customer inconvenience, the six stations-Braddock Road, King Street, Eisenhower Ave, Huntington, Van Dorn Street, and Franconia-Springfield-will be closed from Saturday, May 25 to Monday, September 2, 2019, to allow for around-the-clock work.
