To improve the transit experience, Metro has addressed significant maintenance backlogs and focused on efforts to improve reliability and rider comfort. 

In 2019, we started the multi-year Platform Improvement Project to repair platforms and modernize twenty of Metro's oldest outdoor stations. Our Metrorail stations and primary bus corridors serve regional activity centers, which include major employment centers and mixed-use development areas.
